THE WORLD WIDE WEB(WWW)

Just sit, relax and take your time to read this most great information about "www" known as World Wide Web one of the most rapidly growing technologies in the last millemium. 

Why are you read this?You don't need to study in detail, but all these informations are just additional knowledge.

Simple anwser.Everyday you have surfing the internet searching for infos, entertainments, news,business opportunities,online shopping ,read email and whatever but have you think or flashout in your mind what could make you reach these informations with just only hit the keyboard?

What are the mechanisms to make these resources readily available to you and how it's work?

The web relies on 3 mechanisms state below:-

A uniform naming scheme for locating resources on the web

Protocols for access to named resources over the web

Hypertext for easy navigation among resources

The World Wide Web Consortium defines The World Wide Web (Web) as a network of information resources.The definitions are based on the specification provided by the World Wide Web Consortium at http://www.w3.org/TR/html401. There are 2 versions for the HTML,HTML 4 and HTML 4.01.HTML 4.01 is a subversion of HTML 4,is the updated version of HTML.HTML 4.01 supports more multimedia options,scripting languages,style sheets,better printing facilities and documents that are more accessible to user with disabilities.HTML 4 is an SGML known as Standard Generalized Markup Language is a application conforming to International standard ISO 8879(ISO8879).Refer to http://www.w3.org. 

A Uniform Naming Scheme(URIs)

As we know every resource available on the Web has an address that may be encoded by a Universal Resource Identifier or URI.Maybe you have heard of URL known as Uniform Resource Locator.URL is a subset of URI.

URIs consist of three components:-

The naming scheme of machanism used to access the resources

The name of the machine hosting the resource

The name of the resource itself given as a path

Take a look the example of URI:-

https://financialfreedominfo.tripod.com/1FINANCIALFREEDOM1.htm

Read as follows:

Document available via the HTTP protocol 

Residing on the machine www.blogger.com and www.tripod.com 

There are other sheme you may see such as "mailto" and "ftp".HTTP mean HyperText Transfer Protocol and ftp mean File Transfer Protocol.

URIs are used to :-

Link to another document

Link to an external style sheet or script

Include an image,object or applet

Create an image map

Refer to metadata convertions describing a document

Create a frame document

Cite an external reference

THE HTML(HyperText Markup Language)

The publishing language used by the World Wide Web is HTML.This is a kind of language that all computers may potentially understand.This is a universally language needed to publish information for global distribution.

HMTL are used to :-

Publish online document

Retrieve online document

Include other application

Design forms for conducting transaction

HTML has been developed with the vision that all related devices should be able to use information on the web such as PCs with graphics dispalys of varying resolution and color depths, televisions, cellular telephones, hand held devices, devices for speech for output and input,computer with high or low bandwitdh and more.

HTML 4 version was been upgraded to HTML 4.01 which is more efficiently, enhancements and corrected errors that support more mechanisms for scripting, frames, embedding objects,style sheets,support for right to left and mixed direction text, tables,forms,improved accessibility for people with disabilities.

The SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language)

SGML is a system for defining markup language.Each markup language defined in SGML is called an SGML application.HTML is one of a markup language.Other markup language are XML and XHTML.

SGML application is characterized by:-

SGML declaration

A document type definition (DTD)

A specification

Document instances containing data and markup.
